Linda Brady Burgess, 84, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sunday, August 4, 1940, in Randolph County, North Carolina, to the late John Emitt Brady II and Roselea Parks Brady.
On June 30, 1962, Linda married the love of her life, Wayne Burgess. This June would have marked 63 years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering devotion to each other and their shared faith.
Together, they instilled strong Christian values in their children and lived a life guided by faith and prayer. Linda was a dedicated member of Hope Community Church and believed deeply in the power of prayer to overcome life’s challenges. Linda was a true “Prayer Warrior!”
Linda earned her teaching degree in Social Studies from Wake Forest University and spent several years teaching Math and English. From 1971 to 1986, she founded, owned, and operated The Flower Cupboard in Cary, where she showcased her talent as a decorator and designer. Her keen eye for style and passion for perfection made her an accomplished visionary in her field.
A kind and tender-hearted soul, Linda never met a stranger and always extended a helping hand to those in need. She was the matriarch of her family, placing their needs above her own and ensuring they created a lifetime of cherished memories together. As the “cruise director” of her family’s adventures, she orchestrated experiences filled with love and joy. Crossword puzzles and reading were also favorite pastimes.
Linda’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandsons, who brought an extra sparkle to her eyes. She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Burgess; her son, the Rev. Dr. Clay Burgess (Stephanie); her daughter, Charm Burgess McNemar (Ray); her brothers, William Parks Brady (Irma) and John Emitt “Nick” Brady III (Deb); and five beloved grandsons—Harrison, Garrett, Zane, Cooper, and Evan.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Apex Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Apex Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Tim Epling and her son, the Rev. Dr. Clay Burgess. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Knoll Cemetery in Ramseur, NC.
Linda’s faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord.
