Lisa Jean Tullai Dreano, 55, died unexpectedly due to heart failure on Friday, March 6, 2015. Born in Baltimore to Martin D. and Jean B. Tullai, Lisa was a gifted athlete and honors student at St. Paul’s School for Girls. Her tennis skills earned her the first women’s athletic scholarship to the University of Richmond, where her women’s tennis team captured the University’s first national championship. While at Richmond, Lisa met fellow undergraduate David A. Dreano and they married right after graduation in 1982.
Always interested in the written word, Lisa interned at the Baltimore News American and was a reporter at the Daily Record in Dunn, NC. Lisa and David moved to Apex in 1984. She worked as a Personnel Staffing Clerk at the US Office of Personnel Management in Raleigh, NC. She subsequently worked as an Administrative Support Assistant for the US Marshall Service in Raleigh, NC. She also worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for MModal and her final place of employment was at Measurement, Inc. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her two children, Lindsay Dreano Croom and Daniel Anthony Dreano and she adored her three grandchildren Kairi, Keagan and Sophia.
Lisa and Dave enjoyed watching movies (particularly film noir), reading books, and visiting museums and historical sites. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Lisa left us too soon and will be missed.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, her children, grandchildren and parents; by her sisters: Jaye Tullai, Kim Todd and husband John, and Brenda Hanlon and husband Pete; by her nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Apex, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lisa's memory may be made to the University of Richmond Athletic Department (noting Women's Tennis Program) at www.uronline.net/givenow or in memory of Lisa’s late nephew, Tyler Hanlon, at Defenders of Animal Rights, Inc. – 14412 Old York Road – Phoenix, MD 21131.
