Michelle Avalon Bateman-Williams, a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering love, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 61. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a proud “Mimi,” a faithful servant of Jehovah, and a treasured friend to many. Michelle’s presence brought light, comfort, and kindness into every room she entered, and her life was a beautiful reflection of love, purpose, and faith.
Born on August 27, 1963, Michelle was the cherished daughter of Lester Geoffrey Robert Bateman and Delta Beverley Bateman. She was raised alongside her siblings—Geoffrey (Bobby), Simone (Cheree), Sean, and Marsha—in a home filled with strong family values and love. From an early age, Michelle showed a nurturing spirit, a bright mind, and an eye for creativity that would stay with her throughout her life.
As the first born child, Michelle took her big sister role very seriously. She embraced the responsibility of looking out for her siblings and showed such loving care throughout their school years, often waking before dawn to help them get ready so no one would fall behind. On many cold mornings in Christiana, Jamaica, she and her beloved grandmother Aunt Ena would wait at the end of the driveway for the school bus, her siblings close beside her—always on time, just as Michelle intended.
Michelle deeply admired her father and treasured Bible principles taught by him in word and example. A diligent Bible student, Michelle loved the weekly family Bible studies every Friday night, led by her father. Michelle was always prepared and always seemed to have the right answer. Her sharp memory and thoughtful answers reflected her deep appreciation for spiritual things. She came to love Jehovah, the Bible, and people—gifts she considered the most valuable in life.
Michelle was the first of her siblings to leave Jamaica to pursue education abroad, a milestone the family had long anticipated but still found emotional. She enrolled at Adelphi University in New York, where she faced the challenges of a new country and environment with quiet determination. Commuting daily from the Bronx to Garden City by subway and train, Michelle remained focused and driven. Her perseverance and strong will never wavered. Michelle earned her Master’s Degree in Business with a focus in Human Resources and maintained high honors, a reflection of her academic commitment to excellence.
On May 25, 1986, Michelle and Logan began their lives together as husband and wife, building a beautiful legacy rooted in love, faith, and family. They raised four wonderful children: Shane, Devon, Shannon, and Derek. As a mother, Michelle was everything you could ever hope for and more—gentle, wise, nurturing, and strong. She was a constant source of encouragement, always believing in her children’s potential and guiding them with patience and kindness. Michelle was a devoted and deeply loving grandmother to Tallen, Tianna, and Zen, affectionately known to them as “Mimi.” She was the best Mimi her grandchildren could have ever asked for—showering them with love, laughter, and endless patience. She had a gift for turning everyday moments into something special, down to the smallest details.
In addition to being a loving mother, Michelle also took great pride in her work and the meaningful career she built. For 36 years, Michelle proudly worked for American Airlines, where she built a remarkable career as a Reservations and Sales Representative for the Concierge Key Support Department. Over the years, she worked in many departments, earning admiration and respect for her heartfelt customer service, professionalism, and commitment. As noted by American Airlines Management, “Michelle dedicated herself to serving her customers in many different departments.
Known for her warm smile and unwavering commitment, she took great pride in providing exceptional service to all of her customers and was highly regarded by all who knew her.”
Michelle embodied a rare kind of warmth and sincerity that made people feel instantly at ease. She had an extraordinary gift for caring—always attentive, always thoughtful. Whether through a lovingly prepared meal, a quiet word of encouragement, or one of her signature thoughtful gestures, she had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and genuinely loved. Her hospitality was not just something she offered—it was a reflection of who she was at her very core.
Intelligent and endlessly creative, Michelle was always learning, always making something beautiful. From crafts to puzzles, from organizing to offering advice—her brilliance revealed itself in quiet, thoughtful ways. But more than her talents or intellect, what truly defined her was her heart: generous, compassionate, and full of unwavering faith.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Michelle dedicated her life to Jehovah on April 12th, 1980, and continued to live each day with deep devotion to Jehovah and trust in His promises. She found strength and peace in her faith, actively participating in the ministry and showing her love for others through both word and action. She looked forward with joy and conviction to the fulfillment of God’s promise in Revelation 21:4—that a time will come when “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” While we grieve her absence now, we hold tight to that beautiful hope and the promise of seeing her again in paradise.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Logan Williams; her children, Shane, Devon (Savanna), Shannon, and Derek; her adored grandchildren, Tallen, Tianna, and Zen; her mother, Delta Bateman; and her siblings, Geoffrey (Terry), Simone (James), Sean (Chantal), and Marsha (Karl). She also leaves behind a host of extended family, spiritual brothers and sisters, friends, and colleagues who will carry her memory with love.
She was preceded in death by her nurturing grandmother, Ena Bateman and her beloved father, Geoffrey Bateman.
Michelle’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the example of faith she lived by. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
