Millard was born on September 30, 1944 in Raleigh. He grew up playing in the creeks and woods on Millbrook Road. He attended Millbrook High School and served our country, as a medic, in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany although he volunteered to serve in Vietnam. He was a lineman with Carolina Power and Light in the 70's. In 1980 he founded Airmac Compressor Sales & Service, Inc. in Morrisville, NC now in its 38th year of operation.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecile Makepeace, who referred to him as "a diamond in the rough" and his father, Millard W. Makepeace, his two brothers, William F. Makepeace and Dana H. Makepeace.
Millard was a character with a heart of gold that he covered with a crusty exterior and anyone that really knew him saw right through it.
Millard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Husketh Makepeace and his daughter, Mary Jillian Makepeace Holland and son-in-law, Jonathan Holland, two beautiful and well-loved grandchildren; Hadley Burch Holland and Wick Bennett Holland.
