Obituario de Nancy Louise Jackson
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Apex Funeral Home

Nancy Louise Jackson, a beloved mother, devoted Navy wife, and cherished grandmother, passed away on October 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wauseon, Ohio to the late Leland and Louise Hoops, Nancy grew up in Huntington Beach, California, alongside her four siblings (Thomas Hoops, Judy Tenney, Alan Hoops and the late Katherine Hoops).

Nancy was a graduate of Phineas Banning Senior High School in 1962 and went on to study at Anderson College in Long Beach, CA. On November 1, 1964, she married the love of her life, Vernon Ward Jackson, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 3, 2008. Together, they created a loving family where Nancy was the dedicated anchor of their Navy family. With 29 years of service, they were stationed in various locations, including Okinawa, Japan, Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA. They finished their time with the Navy at Purdue University ROTC and settled into civilian life in West Lafayette, IN. Nancy was loved and admired for her ability to create a sense of home for those she served in various capacities in the Purdue Residence Halls.

Nancy was a woman of strong faith and extended the love of Jesus to all she came across including her family, church friends, the nurses in the hospital, and the teller at the grocery store. Her kindness and compassion were evident in every area of her life. Her love extended to her involvement in supporting various ministries such as Compassion International and With Love From Jesus as she so enjoyed impacting those in need whether through words or practical gifts.

Nancy's greatest joys in life were her family and her role as a grandmother. She leaves behind two children, Karen Louise Doidge (Dennis Doidge) of Apex, North Carolina, and Vernon Ward Jackson, III (Kristi Jackson) of Zionsville, Indiana. Her legacy also includes six beloved grandchildren: Matthew Doidge (Lindsey), Melissa Mark (Wesley Mark), Taylor Jackson, Jonathan Doidge, Madison Jackson, and Jacob Jackson. Her family was a source of immense pride and happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her warm smile, caring spirit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

There will be two memorial services held in honor of Nancy; one in North Carolina and one in Indiana. Please see below for details. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be donated to Compassion International or With Love From Jesus.
