Dr. Robert E. Chick makes the final voyage into the undiscovered country. Dr. Bob is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lockhart. His four children Ellice (Brad), Joel (Sonya), James (Jasmine) and Evan (Adrianne). His 10 grandchildren call him Opa and he loved each one of them. Dr. Bob served on the mission field first as a Radio engineer later a computer engineer and even a satellite engineer. If something was broken you could call him, to first be asked. “Did you restart it?” or “Is it plugged in?” He always read the manual which is probably why he knew how to fix what was broken.
His love of the Lord was the leading call in his life. He served as an interim pastor, missionary, choir director, worship leader, author, Sunday school teacher, Patch the Pirate, and renaissance man for God. Faithful in his tasks for the Lord he left the comfort of his home and traveled the world to share the good news with as many as possible. He was an example of God’s love and blessing to the strong Christain kids he raised and the grandkids who have seen his Christ- like behavior in the face of the worst.
A dad joke kind of guy “You can’t be on the phone, you’ll break it.” with the best kind of fatherly advice “Don’t eat on dates.” The teller of great stories like ‘Where sloppy Joes come from,’ “why the international date line is jagged,” and ‘why spiders are the ones that burp.’ He has written a plethora of books ranging from tales for his kids and grandkids, theology, sermons, and worship music. His voice will be heard in the hearts of many for generations to come. Enjoy the Peace and Quiet Daddy.
