Roger, a native of Cumberland, Maryland, was born on July 11, 1936 to the late Thomas Aden Wade and Ethel Robinson Wade. He was a self-taught musician, playing the fiddle from a young age. He and Rayma married and moved South. They settled in Raleigh and Cary and raised their family there. While employed in finance, banking and real estate, he continued to enjoy playing bluegrass music in several local bands. He influenced many young musicians including his son John who continues to play music professionally. He enjoyed getting together with other talented musicians for long evenings of ‘picking and singing’.
He moved to Phoenix Assisted Care in 2011, and the family would like to thank the staff there for their dedicated care. He remained an entertainer, and he always had a joke to make his visitors and caregivers laugh. He survived COVID in February 2021 without a sniffle.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rayma Wright Wade.
He is survived by his son, John Wade; daughter, Robin Wade Russell and her husband, Andy; and sisters, Barbara Dixon and Rose Marie Bowie.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
