Shannon was born on June 27, 1975, in Sanford, NC. She is the daughter of the late Debra Elaine Strickland (Anderson Creek) and Dale Walters. Soon after Shannon was born her mother married the late William Keith Finch (Casper, WY). Together they gave Shannon a sister and a brother, Michelle Lee Stroup (Holly Springs) and David Charles Finch (Cary, NC). Shannon is preceded in death by her daughter, Tailer Michelle Strickland (Holly Springs), and son, David Preston Sloan. In 1996, Shannon married Michael Chad Sloan (Holly Springs) and together they began to share & build their young family. In 2000 Shannon and Chad were blessed with their son, Preston who sadly only lived for a short 19 days before being taken into God’s arms. Against all odds, in 2003, they welcomed their miracle baby, Shelbie Lynn Sloan (Holly Springs). Shannon graduated high school from Western Harnett in 1993.
Shannon was a very private person, but if you knew her you knew that she held her family at the center of her heart. She loved music from all genres, but mostly you could find her rocking-out to Mötley Crüe, Fleetwood Mac, Guns N Roses, and Sixx: A.M.. She also loved animals, especially Rottweilers. Her favorite was her childhood dog, Baby, who protected and snuggled with her. This is especially important because Shannon protected her family with all her might, yet she was very compassionate and tender-hearted. Tailer, Preston, and Shelbie are Shannon’s greatest accomplishments in life. In 2014, Shannon became a grandmother to Lilah Ruth Carter, 7, then in 2017 she was blessed with her grandson, Michael Allen Carter, 4. This is where Shannon began to shine. She adored and cherished her grandchildren, as they became the apple of her eye.
Shannon is survived by her husband, Chad; daughter, Shelbie; grandchildren, Lilah and Michael; sister, Michelle Stroup; brother, David Finch; and grandparents, Thad and Bettie Strickland (Anderson Creek); nephews, Bradley Kohl Stroup and Austin Ridge Stroup (Holly Springs).
Memorial contributions may be donated to the family at the funeral home for Lilah and Michael Carter.

For the whole world to read
Sometimes nothing keeps me together
At the seams
I’m on my way
I’m on my way
Home sweet home” -Home Sweet Home: Mötley Crüe
