Originally from Flushing, Queens, Steve attended Monsignor Scanlan H.S. in the Bronx and Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. He began his career as an entry level associate at Jennifer Convertibles 38 years ago and remained for 28 more, reaching the level of Senior Vice President of National Distribution. For the past 10 years, Steve was the Executive Vice President at Makers Nutrition. He took great pride in his work and his responsibilities as a mentor to those who worked for and with him. He delighted in the success of the people he helped, and was grateful for the many lifelong friends he made during his career.
Steve loved playing guitar, deep-sea and surf fishing, and driving the beaches of Long Island and North Carolina. He was a live music fan and avid concert-goer, and particularly loved the Dead & Co. Steve had an uncanny ability to recite lines from countless movies and nearly any Seinfeld episode. He enjoyed traveling, including to Mexico on fishing trips with friends, to the Outer Banks with his family, and recently to the UK and Ireland with his children. He was a devoted father, brother, son, uncle and husband. Steve will be remembered for his humility, great sense of humor and his deep caring towards others. He will be terribly missed by all that came to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carla, and children, Madeline and Jack. He is also survived by his father, Thomas Finnegan; sisters, Suzanne (Dave) Bouton, Nina Helgans, Terri Finnegan, and MaryJo (Gordon) Baltzer; brother, Chris Finnegan; 12 nieces and nephews, and a great-niece and great-nephew, all of whom he loved and cared about very much.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Finnegan; brother, Thomas Finnegan; and brother-in-law, Scott Helgans.
