Steven Monroe was made of magic. Everyone he loved was coated in it. He could know things that didn’t make sense to know. He knew just the right moment to pop back up in your life and ask how you’re doing. He knew where the beauty was and where it wasn’t. He knew this and lived his life accordingly: Steven experienced living the way most of us only do as a child. Things took on symbolic, incredible power when he explained them to you through his own eyes. Steven lived so many lives this way, and it’s impossible to honor all of them in the space that I have here. If there’s one thing I can say about Steven, it’s that he was a believer. In what, I don’t know, only he could tell us that.
Steven’s ideals were exemplified by his actions, as he was a man of service. On several occasions he was known to say, “I love manual labor!” He would go so far out of his way to help others, with great care for those he was serving, all for nothing in exchange. He had a way of making people feel seen and honoring them with truth and compassion. Steven’s lively spirit inspired those around him to put themselves out there, take chances, appreciate the wonders of the world around them, and live life more fully.
Steven embraced life, enjoyed numerous interests and experienced many adventures.
