Thomas Allen Pierce, 81 of Apex, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2019, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 27, 1937 to the late Tom and Sophia Pierce and is also preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Airington and brother, Oscar Pierce.
Thomas Allen served his community throughout his life. He began as a charter member of Fairview Fire Department in 1963 where he served as a volunteer for 50 years. Thomas Allen served as a deacon at Catawba Springs Christian Church for 50 years. He was a founding board member of Wake Christian Academy where he held over 25 years of service and he was a board member at Tarheel Farm Credit for over 20 years.
Thomas Allen will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Ellen West Pierce. He was Father to Jeff (Sheila), Trent (Valarie), and Brad (Paula); Grandaddy to Kristin (Stephen), Rachael, Hilary (Colin), Ashlyn, Natalie, Anna, and Alex; Great-Grandaddy to Emily, Lydia, and Garrett; and brother to Marie Pleasants.
A funeral service will be held at Catawba Springs Christian Church on Sunday, January 13, 2018 at 2:30 PM with a graveside service to follow. Family will receive friends and guests prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Catawba Springs Christian Church or Transitions Hospice.
