Tyron Spencer Tyler, 82, returned to our Lord on November 26, 2023, at his home. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years Judith, his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchild, during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Born on October 1, 1941 in Oroville CA, Tyron “Ty” Tyler was the son of John S. Tyler (Col. Ret.) and Katy Lynn Burns Tyler, and was predeceased by his parents and older brother John Tyler Jr.
Ty attended Georgia Military Academy for elementary and high school years and went on to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1963 as a Second Lieutenant and rose to the rank of Major. Ty served two tours in Vietnam and obtained his MBA from the University of Georgia before resigning from the Military in 1972. Ty remained close to many of his friends and classmates from West Point and cherished those relationships until the end.
After completing his military service, Ty went on to an incredible professional career in Human Resource Information Systems and consulting. He began this career while still in the Army, working at the Pentagon implementing the then new Army HR system. He transitioned to a sales role at Information Sciences - his first role out of the Army, and went on to form his own company which landed on the Inc. 500 list in the mid 1980’s.
Ty will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, mastermind for nicknames, love of family and country, and adoration of his wife Judy. He enjoyed attending sporting, musical and theater events for his grandchildren, and was often an avid cheerleader to the entire team.
Ty is survived by his wife Judith, his two daughters and their husbands Christy Tyler Malone and Peter Malone, Kelly Tyler Sozio and Anthony Sozio and daughter in law Nancy Tyler. He had five grandchildren Becky Malone Borrebach and her husband Drew Borrebach, Ryan Malone and his wife Andrea Malone, Conor Malone, Sydney Sozio and Cameron Sozio, and one great grandchild Nathaniel Borrebach. He was predeceased by his son Michael John Tyler.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 16th, at 2 p.m., at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. William Street, Apex, NC. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, a cause that Ty held close to his heart.
