I am Yili Pritchett from G1 Therapeutics, which is a commercial stage oncology biotech company located in RTP, NC.

Last summer, after long years of serve in SAS Institute, Yu decided to get out her comfort zone and became a pharmaceutical statistician. On Aug 30, I met Yu in our RTP office to welcome her joining G1 Biometrics team as Associate Director, Biostatistics. I remember the mutual excitement that we shared: she was very excited to come to a new field and I was very excited to attract a talent. While learning about drug development process, Yu quickly demonstrated her exceptional technical strength and her capacity of problem solving. Equally quickly, Yu mingled with the 
Biometrics team and became one of us. She was always willing to help colleagues and impacted on overall team strengthen by organized a training course on sample size calculation for time-to-event endpoint from theory to software.  

Yu put her heart/thoughts into everything she was doing, and her tasks were delivered with high quality and often ahead of timeline. 

Yu’s unexpected passing was devastating to all of us in G1. We consider ourselves honored to have the opportunity to know her and interact with her almost daily in the last 7 previous months of her life. There are so many ahead of Yu and so many to look forward to, not only at work but also at home and professional growth: Yu planned a family trip to Yellowstone in the summer and registered courses at DIA conference .  

Dear Yu, G1 Biometrics team truly miss you and miss the interaction with you. You will forever live in our heart as an excellent statistician and a wonderful person. 

Dear Wenbin, Aiden and Cindy, we share the sorrow with you during this very difficult time. Soon, let go together to visit a commemorative bench that G1 will set up in North Carolina Arboretum as a permanent remembrance of Yu Liang, your beloved wife/mother and our very missed colleague/friend. 

Wenbin and Yu are my college classmates. They fell in love with each other in early 1996 and they were a sweet couple who match each other perfectly. For the next few years, we often saw them in study hall, in cafeteria, in everywhere. A classmate named them "the couple glued with 502". Our classmates were deeply saddened to hear the passing of Yu Liang and for the great loss of Wenbin's family.  Dear Yu, I know you’re always there, in their hearts, watching over and guiding them. Rest in peace.

We met Yu and Wenbin about 20 years ago, after fresh graduation and being ready for exciting new careers in RTP, North Carolina.  Along with a group of young, energetic and talented friends, we had so much joyful and memorable time.  After the birth of our children,  we all became more occupied and had less time for party gatherings.  However, we continued to care about each other on both up and down times.  Less than two years ago when my mom suddenly passed away, Yu sent her kind words to comfort me and shared her sympathy.  Sadly today, I am sending my sympathy to her family for losing her.

In my memory, Yu was always a warm and sweet girl.  I am thankful to the old time, with all the games we played together, all the houses we warmed together, all the pre-parenthood life we enjoyed together,
and all the dreams we shared together.
Life may be limited but friendship never fades.  Dear Yu, you'd never be forgotten, rest in peace.

It was so heartbroken to hear that Yu left us. We still cannot believe it and are still in a heavy grief for loss of her. I worked in the same place as Yu for 2 years, sometimes we took a walk after lunch, and then we became friends. She is very kind and humble, but she is also a strong person standing besides her friends. She will be missed by us forever.  May Wenbin, Aiden and Cindy find strength and love in this difficult time. May Yu rest in peace.

My heart is broken for Yu, for her husband, for her kids, for her sisters, for her close friends.  Yu was a wonderful person and I had the great honor and pleasure of working with her for many years at SAS.  

Yu was incredibly smart, hard-working, kind, humble, and sweet.  What an asset she was in the STAT testing group, bailing me out time and time again by taking on tough projects that were beyond my abilities.  

I know she will be grievously missed by her dear family.  Praying you find comfort in the days ahead. 



我是中山大学数学学院张俊玉。我是梁宇北京大学数学科学学院概率统计系1995级本科同学，还是同宿舍的。
自从梁宇去美国后，已经20多年没见了。大学时期的很多具体事情已经不太记得了，但是在我印象中，梁宇是一个非常勤奋，自律，聪明，文静和坚强的女孩。
梁宇几乎每天最早起床，安静地洗漱完，去学习，晚上也是熄灯前几分钟才回到宿舍。她是我们宿舍最勤奋的人，没有之一。
给我印象最深的是她高中阶段是学习俄语的，英语0基础，到大学才开始学习英语的。在全校英语0基础的ABC班，她的英语成绩几乎是最好的。从这可以看出，她是多么聪明和努力。她研究生毕业出国要考TOEFL和GRE，她的成绩也都很好。
梁宇是一个比较文静的小女孩。平时话不多，一点也不聒噪，性格和善，印象中没有跟谁吵过架。她心理比较强大，有些事情不太喜欢跟别人说，自己消化。
由于本科成绩优异，梁宇保送本学院研究生。她在北京大学读研究生的时候，我和赵慧敏找过她几次，有的时候还要她帮忙查资料。她那时候好像身体有点小问题，但是她一如既往的坚强。她出国之后我们就再也没有见过面了，但是看过照片，跟大学时候几乎没有任何变化。
大学时期的照片都在老家山东省青岛莱西，疫情原因，我们那里现在快递也停止了，所以不能附上照片。
听说梁宇出事以后，她的身影经常浮现在我脑海里。在我心里，梁宇永远都是青春的模样！
念此杳如梦，凄然伤我情！

She was an absolutely wonderful colleague, someone who epitomized professionalism, commitment and teamwork. We are heartbroken to have lost Yu, so tragically and at such a young age. We will always remember her beautiful soul and her smile, her wit, and how much she loved her family. The dinners, card games, festivals, and family activities we shared are some of the fond memories we will cherish of her. Her sweet and considerate children make it clear how fine of a job she did raising them during her time here. She will forever live on in our hearts. 惊闻噩耗，不能相信，梁宇竟然突然离我们而去，虽然我们相隔遥远，但总觉得未来还很长，总有很多机会见面的，不想人未老，却已经天人永隔，再不能见。这几天，想起我们认识的二十几年，还都仿佛刚刚发生，历历在目。
1995年9月7日，是去北大报道的日子，天气微寒还有点小雨，办好手续到宿舍，正在铺床，宿舍的同学接连到来，一般都是一个陪同的，突然又来了一个同学，好几个人高马大的人陪同，我心里当时想看来这个同学在家里好受宠啊。她就是梁宇，乖巧的和我们几个先来的打招呼，原来她的爸爸和两个姐夫一起来送她上学了。陆续的来送的家人都走了，大家都在收拾自己的东西，梁宇住在我对面床，东西收拾的很干净利索。吃过饭，虽然大家都有点离开家的不舍，但是还有点兴奋，但是突然梁宇开始哭起来了，想家了，我们一起来安慰她，我想她真的有点“”娇滴滴”啊，可能没离开过家。可是我这个想法第二天以后就被推翻了，第二天并没有开学，六点多，我们都还在睡梦中，梁宇已经起身了，很轻的动作，我醒后看到她收拾玩后拿了本书在看，我当时就很震惊，这么勤奋。以后的日子里，充分印证加强了我的这个认识。每天早上6点起床，晚上宿舍11点关灯前进门，几乎风雨无阻雷打不动，我对她的勤奋和自律佩服的五体投地，可以看到，她的成绩一直在强者如云中保持在前列，大学才开始学习英语，从“”ABC“开始到后来的TOEFL, GRE, 无不证明了这个姑娘的聪明智慧还有超人的毅力。可能是在她的不自觉的带领下吧，我们宿舍的人都比较爱学习。
生活中的梁宇，和我们相处的都很融洽，不但学习勤奋自律证明了一点都不“”娇滴滴“，生活中也经常是关心照顾别人的那个。生活中一点也不书呆子，也很喜欢时尚，进大学的时候的“”郭富城“的发型、学校里排队买“班尼路”（当时绝对是大牌）、在宿舍讨论那个食堂的小炒比较好吃。四年的生活除了一起上自习，忘不了周末大家挤在宿舍集体买的电脑前面打游戏、熄灯后的卧谈会、一起去郊野旅游住大通铺、猜测她有了男朋友后室友善意的“”逼问“……这些生活中的点点滴滴都却成了我们珍贵的永远回忆，忍不住潸然泪下。
读了硕士，虽然中科院和北大不远，但是见面的机会还是少了许多，但偶尔还是会一起吃个饭，聊一聊，和男朋友的进展，申请美国的情况和以后生活的安排。现在最遗憾那时候没有手机，几乎没什么照片留下来，但是当初说话的神情却犹如昨日浮现在我脑海，悲伤无法自已。
很感谢2009年去美国的开会，我去了一趟北卡，见到了她美国后的生活，稳定的工作，温馨的家，体贴的先生。已经怀孕几个月的梁宇亲自给我做饭，文斌他们还带我去吃中餐，真后悔没有多呆几天，但是总算见到她的幸福生活，也觉得意料之中，这么努力这么热爱生活的姑娘，这是她应得的。我以为这次见面以后，以后还会有很多次的见面，以后可以聊聊我们的孩子有多么调皮，学习成绩怎么样。去年我们还在微信上感慨疫情，希望疫情赶快过去，他们一家回国可以来广州玩一趟，可是这些却永不能实现了。生命那么那么脆弱，那么无常，你那么热爱生活，努力生活，还有那么多未竟的责任和心愿没有完成，就突然离开你爱的人和爱你的人，甚至来不及做个正式的告别。
天堂里没有病痛，没有离别，愿你在天堂里开心幸福快乐！你永远活在我们的心里！

You were a helpful, intelligent and modest colleague.  You were one of my go to persons when I needed help at work. You were also the person I like to share interesting and mentally challenging problems with whenever I bumped into one. What I miss most is the joyful lunch time together. You are deeply missed.

Today is black Monday, I am deeply shocked by the passing of Yu. I got to know Yu when I started in SAS Enterprise Miner testing team. Although we didn’t have a chance to work together, I remember her friendly smiles, and always bringing kindness and happiness to the surrounding people. Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and may her soul rest in peace. 

I am very sorry for your tremendous loss.  Yu was a very nice person, and was an excellent statistician and analytical software validation tester in her time at SAS.  In some cases I was able to benefit by standing on her shoulders in my own work.  With her passing, she leaves a large hole in the statistical profession.  Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you Wenbin, Aiden, and Cindy.

梁宇6岁就上小学了，就读于长春市二道区和顺小学，学习成绩优异，总是全班的第一名，担任班长的职位，在全校也是名列前茅。年年被评为校三好学生，二道区的优秀班干部。在小学六年级的时候参加二道区的数学竞赛取得了前几年的好成绩，被长春市第六中学录取，在班级担任学习委员，初中时不管是期中，期末什么考试，在全校排名从来都没下过前三名，曾多次被评为长春市的三好学生及优秀班干部。初中毕业，梁宇已自己优异的成绩考上了长春市实验高中，这个高中在长春市也是数一数二的学校，学校在火车站离家较远，需要做公共汽车，每天不到6点就从家出发，爸爸把她送到无轨车站，每天晚上放学有时是爸爸，有时是妈妈都会在无轨车站等她，把她接回家，高中时候梁宇更是刻苦学习，在学习学习成绩依然是名列前茅，在她心里不允许任何一个人学习超过她，就这样苍天不负有心人，她以优异的成绩考取了北京大学。接到通知书的那一刻，家里人是又喜又悲啊，喜的是北京大学，是多少人几辈子都梦寐以求的大学啊，每年全长春市才能有几个人能考上啊，悲的是她年龄太小，独自一人去那么远的地方上学，爸妈实在是不放心啊！家里人都很上火，这样纠结了一段时间，最后还是决定让她去北京上大学。

We miss the many memorable times we spent together, and miss your gentle and warm smiles. You gave me so much comforts and encouragement during the most gray period of my life. I got to know Yu shortly after joining SAS about 12 years ago. My first impression of her was that she was smart, modest, and very nice. Being the two of only a few women in the SAS statistics group, we were often together for work, lunch, and gym. 

We had a circle of close friends and families, and our kids are the same age. I will always remember our card games, beach trips, hiking, and children's playdates.

Yu, you will be missed deeply by us all. Rest In Peace.

Yu’s SAS office was right across the hall from mine for many years. Yu was the sweetest person who always had a laugh no matter what the situation. She was so proud of her family and liked to tell stories of Aiden and Cindy. What a loss in the world. My heartfelt sympathies to her family.

My family is shocked and stunned at Yu’s passing, as we know a lot of good things about Yu and her wonderful family.

We lost a talented scientist: I worked with Yu a lot during our services at SAS/STAT, via a few Procs we developed and maintained. Yu is very easy to work with, very smart to understand the models being developed and maintained, always writing good and comprehensive tests to cover all cases…

We lost a good friend: My family had many activities with Yu and her family. Yu is a very nice person that always takes care of friends and family. My memories are of rafting in various lakes, SAS festivals, various hiking trails, various tennis courts, various parties, playing cards and enjoying delicious food…

We lost a good mom and wife: Yu always takes care of kids very well, having two wonderful and smart kids. Yu always has great ideas, and an example is her inventing the great idea of using a net to pick up tennis balls. In activities like tennis, soccer, ice-skating, swimming, we always saw Yu and Wenbin together. Yu’s family is a model family of harmony, happiness…

May Yu rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to Wenbin, Aiden, and Cindy.

We started working together the day Yu joined SAS. Over the years I admire her work and her great ideas.  I also have fond memories of eating lunch with her at the SAS cafe. Yu will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to Wenbin, Aiden, and Cindy.

I am so sad and shocked to hear that. So heartbroken for the loss of Wenbin’s family. I am a student of Wenbin at NCSU. He is a great and smart teacher, very caring and responsible for his students. I did not know Yu but I have heard lots of good things about her from her friends at SAS. She is very nice and humble. RIP. Yu will be missed!

Yu was my summer internship ambassador at SAS. She was so nice and gentle. Her husband, Dr. Lu,  was my advisor at NCSU. They both helped me a lot with my research and job. It is really heartbreaking to know her passing. Words cannot express my grief for the loss of her family. May she rest in peace.


I worked with Yu from when she first came to SAS. I will always remember her cheerful and helpful disposition, as well as her brilliance.  My deepest condolences to her family.

Yu jie, I remember how excited you were when you took little Cindy and Aiden with you checking out your new house right next to ours. I remember you took me to SAS cafeteria for lunch which was so fancy for me. We live close worked close.  I remember you shared your happiest family Hawaii big island vacation with me. You told me that was the best place in the world. You said I have to take my kids there one day like you did. I will do in the near future. I remember we talked about how hard to get out of comfort zone. We both did. We both changed to challenging new jobs last year. So proud of us! I know you will be blessing Wenbin, Aiden and Cindy in another world. You will be missed deeply by us all.
