He graduated in 1983 from Tulare Union High School. Following graduation, he moved back to the High Desert and married Linda Friesen in 1988; they were married for almost 35 years.
After working a few odd jobs, he found his career at V.V.W.R.A. in 1993. Bruce worked in a number of positions including an operator and health and safety. When he started at the plant, its operations were controlled manually. He single-handily led the way in transitioning V.V.W.R.A.’s operations and communications in becoming automated by incorporating state of the art SCADA systems. The plant celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018 with recognition to Bruce for being the longest-tenured employee working 25 of the 40 years in V.V.W.R.A. history. He knew the plant like the back of his hand, so he was often referred to as the old man or sage, often helping his coworkers not only with plant operations, but with sound advice. He was always available, day or night including his days off; he took his work ethic seriously.
His family is devastated by the loss. All that knew him will miss his joy, laughter, sense of humor, keen intelligence and sage advice.
He was preceded in death by both parents. His father, the late Bruce Anthony Correia and mother, the late Cheryl Lee (Wood) Epple. He is survived by his wife, Linda D. Correia and sons, Nicholas X. and Alexander H. Correia.
Funeral and graveside services will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley, Ca. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 9 a.m. Following the services, a memorial reception will be held at the family home in Victorville, CA. If attending, a potluck side dish or dessert would be most appreciated.
