Connie Rae Lambrix was born in rural Mississippi on April 2, 1931(though she often joked she was a day late). She was the 7th child of William and Clara Cobb who named her Edith Virginia. As the story is told she would lose her mother and would be younger sibling in childbirth. Subsequently the 3 youngest of 7 children were put up for adoption.
Enter Roselia and Hubert Holland who had lost their only child to simple appendicitis. Although they were fairly poverty stricken the Hollands doted on the child they now called Connie Rae. Roselia would assure that Connie was as well dressed, hair perfectly coiffed and as educated as possible. She taught her ingenuity and how to stretch a dollar. Her father taught her the value of hard work.
Connie would go on to graduate from Saucier Consolidated, Saucier, Mississippi in 1949 and obtain an AA in business from Perkinston in Mississippi. She would continue her education many years later at Victor Valley Junior College after her children were grown earning an AA in Accounting with studies in small business management, data processing and business mathematics.
Connie first came to Apple Valley, California in 1964 as a military wife and went by Connie Boyd. She raised her children Kenneth, Patricia, Kathleen and Susan in Apple Valley with her former husband Spencer for the first 10 years and the remainder of time as a single working mother.
Connie was in bookkeeping for a number of years and worked for Newton Petroleum, Desert Construction and Robert R Yeghoian to name a few. She also worked for Weldon Enterprises and had Combined Office Services in Lucerne Valley.
Connie married Robert Lambrix in 1979 and they moved to Lucerne Valley. They became members of Lucerne Valley Assembly of God, but Connie has attended Calvary Bible for nearly 10 years. She is well known in the community and loved everything about living in Lucerne Valley.
She has given generously, always held fast to hope and shown great respect to those whom she's met. I would venture to guess she has enriched the lives of many and will be sorely missed.
Connie is preceded in heaven by her loving husband Robert Lambrix and her precious daughter Susan Boyd Groce. She is also preceded by her siblings Henry Clifton Cobb, Virginia M. Cobb, John G. Cobb, Mildred Cobb, Braxton Cobb and Mary Catherine Moran.
Connie is survived by her son Kenneth Boyd & wife Judy, daughter Patricia Alvarenga, daughter Kathleen Weaver & husband Michael and son-in-law Samuel Groce. Her grandchildren Kenny & Nakina Boyd, Jason & Heather Boyd, Sheri & Shawn Chaufty, Mitch & Erika Weaver, Michele & Mark Frazee, Mickey & Brandy Weaver, Misty Weaver, Mike & Heather Weaver, Patrick & Mishia Morrison, Regina & Zachary Negrete-Weaver, Cody Albert, Anthony Albert, Stephen & Angela Groce, Seth Groce and Sean Groce. She has 33 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Two dear people need mention as their care made it possible for Connie and Robert to stay in their beloved community. Howard Butler was like a son to her and preceded her to heaven and Randie Anastasia is like a daughter to her who cared for her nearly a decade.
So we will wait until we get there to search heaven for the dancing angel in high heels and a short skirt because He's always loved you even then♡
