Hey Jack, you were always a great friend to me in college. Miss you.

I remember Jack from class, we had a few together. He was a sharp guy and I appreciated his contributions in class. He was passionate about his ideas and you could tell he had a good heart. It was sad to hear about his passing.

I was Jack's classmate and friend at IWU. He was the reason why I passed my economics classes. When I needed help studying for an exam or needed clarification on a paper he would drop what he was doing to lend a hand. I knew Jack in the classroom, on the baseball field, and at our friend's house on the weekends. He will be missed, but he will be remembered.

I knew Jack on a professional level and am deeply saddened to see this news. My thoughts and prayers to the family. Jack was a very smart young man, with some great ideas. This is truly a tragedy in many ways, clearly first on a personal level first for the family, but also for the tech world, for politics, and for all the things he could have achieved with his mind.

I will never forget Jack the entertainer, the friend, the athlete, the student or Jack the politician. I wish I could have been there for you through your pain. I wish I would have known. We have had several conversations about the things you would change when you became president. You always promised me that you wouldn’t forget “the little people” and I promised that you would always have my vote. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Jack was an awesome, intelligent and deeply caring individual.  He played college baseball with my son and he was a groomsman in his wedding. I enjoyed watching the kid in him play baseball, and how proud his father was of him. I will never forget the night before the wedding and some very special words he shared with everyone in the wedding regarding my son, but especially about himself.  I wish he could have remembered those same special words he spoke about himself that night each and every day of his life...so he would know he was special to everyone and to God. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

In the 15 years that I worked at AVCS, you left the biggest impression on me. You were always so kind and compassionate. Your smile and your laughter will forever and always be in my memory. I will not say goodbye, I will say I will see you later. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. My they all feel God's loving arms holding them tight.

Jack made a great first impression when I met him.  He had a great smile and was great with people.  I saw growth in Jack’s life in the time that I coached him.  He grew into a man that was confident in his faith in Jesus Christ and shared that faith with our team.  Jack had a great work ethic and he always worked hard to achieve his passions. He showed leadership skills and was able to rally people around a common cause.  His leadership on the IWU campus during his time there was evident.  I feel honored that I was able to be a part of Jack’s life for three years.  My prayers go out to the Collingsworth family.  Thank you for trusting me with your son for that brief time.

We came to know Jack via the AVC high school sports program. Everyone knows his game was baseball. He was totally dedicated to the game, talented and very good. He was also a valuable contributor to the basketball and volleyball teams. We both liked Jack very much; he was always respectful, thoughtful and just a plain great guy. We're deeply saddened. Jack and Melinda, we know you're devastated. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Jack and Melinda - We have heavy hearts in our household and grieve with you. Our hope is in heaven and we cling to our faith that we will see Jack again. We cherish the time we spent with Jack in our home, our fantastic boating trip, Oreganos and watching baseball. We will always remember Jack as a fine young man and often think of him. We remain your friends forever and please reach out anytime for any reason.

Lit a candle in memory of Jack Floyd Collingsworth

I have known Jack, Sr, since 1982.  I only met Melinda once, about 8 years ago, although I recall Jack speaking highly of her long before I met her.  Although I never met Jack, Jr, I did have a brief correspondence with him upon him graduating high school.  I was impressed with his communication with me.  And with his accomplishments.  Lynda and I are very sorry that Jack and Melinda, and their family and friends, are suffering through the loss of Jack, Jr.  When I think of Jack and his family some particular words come to mind.  Noble, ethical, fair, strong, considerate, compassionate, leader, honorable, and service to community and others.  I am proud to have Jack and Melinda counted as being amongst our circle of friends.  And I wish I could do something to take away the grief they now are living through.
