

June 29th 1924 – November 20th 2015
Muriel passed into her next life on November 20th 2015 at the age of 91. Muriel was preceded in deathby her parents, Carl and Irene Wells, Stepfather Myron Startup, brother Carl Wells, sisters Jean Stroud, Doris Bivens, husbands Earl Hillbert, Paul Wheat and Merle Vernon.
Muriel was born in Colona Illinois and attended grades K through 8th in a one building school and graduated from Moline High School. She married Earl Hillbert in 1942 living in Illinois and Texas following the Army Air Corp in WWII. They moved California in 1962 and Apple Valley in 1969 where they owned and operated Nu‐Way Laundry. She retired from Pacific Mutual Insurance in 1986.
After Earl’s passing in 1984 she met and married Paul Wheat. After Paul’s passing she married Merle Vernon in 2006.
Muriel loved to read, travel and tap dance. She tap danced into her 80s. Muriel was Christian early in life and followed the path to the end of her life. Muriel is survived by son Doug Hillbert (Vivian), stepsons Ron Wheat (Mary), Greg Vernon (Patti), step daughters Paula Setterquist (Alan), Patricia Lindly (Gary), Zoe Vernon, grandchildren Robbie Hamilton (Julie), Connie Hernandez, Monica Hernandez Hillbert, Victoria Hillbert, great‐ grand daughter Ruby Hamilton, great grandson Luke Hamilton (due in January 2016.)
At Muriel’s request there will be no services.
