On the morning of April 27th, 2016, Paul Rickli passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, CA as a result of Cancer reoccurrence. Paul was diagnosed with blood cancer in May of 2015. He received months of chemo therapy followed by a stem cell transplant at the City of Hope. Although hopeful that the extensive treatments had cured the cancer it traveled to his brain and resulted in his death. Paul turned 60 years old just 12 days before passing away.
Paul was born in Newport Beach, CA on April 15th, 1956. He was the second born child and first born son of Joy Dolores and Paul Charles Rickli.
Paul is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Rachel (Todd) Rehrer and Tristan (Josh) Harrison; and grandchildren, Tyler, Jade, Koris, Kaydence, and Kanon.
Paul had been enjoying retirement for three years. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Victorville. Since retirement he has taken on most of the house responsibilities as his wife Carol who still works. Carol has been spoiled by his home cooked dinners, clean house, clothes washed, and errands run. Along with his domestic responsibilities, he served as a preaching elder at Jess Ranch Community Church. He loved the various ministry responsibilities he had there.
Paul had a passion for the Word of God. Often times you would find him with his theology book and a cup of coffee. He would probably have said that was heaven on earth. Weekly he would Skype with his grandchildren (Tyler and Jade) for their Bible lesson as part of their homeschool curriculum.
Family was a big part of who Paul was. He talked about his daughters and grandchildren all the time. He watched his 2 granddaughters (Koris and Kaydence) for two weeks while his daughter Tristan and her husband Josh went to China to bring home his grandson Kanon. His grandson Tyler recently did a choir missions tour which Paul was able to see. Paul was deeply moved by Tyler’s love of Christ being used to minister to others. Recently, he took his granddaughter, Jade, to get a pair of earrings for her 12th birthday. He loved them all.
Paul truly loved others more than himself which endeared people to him. His desire was always to point people to Christ and Christ alone. His faith in Christ has sustained him through this past year fighting with cancer. He never wavered and was thanking Jesus until his last breath.
Paul’s memorial service will be held at Jess Ranch Community Church on Monday, May 2nd @ 3:30 p.m. Jess Ranch Community Church Address: 11537 Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley CA 92308
