May 3, 2017 in Ontario, California. He is now in the company of his beloved parents,
Ralph Morgan Pratt and Venice Mary Bell, his loving wife, Norda Jones, his late
brother, William Noel Pratt, and his son, Randall Morgan Pratt. What a reunion it is!
The first of three children, two boys and a girl, Dad grew in a home of faith where
love and service for all was a daily practice. Dad had close ties with many aunts,
uncles and cousins. He would call all of his cousins at his birthday every year.
Dad attended Inglewood High School, playing water polo and gymnastics and
enjoying shop classes. Dad joined the Army Air Corp as a senior and while awaiting
flight training, he completed B-17 Engine Maintenance school. The war wound
down and he was discharged in November, 1945.
Dad met Norda at an LDS church meeting. Love blossomed. Dad said she was one
“good looking girl”. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple in 1950.
Dad and Mom built their first house on a piece of ranch land in Norco, California.
Three boys were born in this union- Glen, Alan, and Randall. They later moved to
Riverside. Dad had obtained his Contractors License and he and his Father formed
Pratt Enterprises, building residential homes and businesses. He loved
woodworking, making furniture, and building the four homes they would live in. He
also volunteered in many capacities in his Church.
When the building market hit hard times, Dad went to work for the California
Department of Housing and Community Development, retiring after 23 years. He
built his home in Hesperia, California, moving there in 1972. He loved the quiet
serenity and openness of the desert. After the boys left home Dad and Mom enjoyed
traveling, going to Europe and the Mideast. See’s candy, homemade ice cream and
the beach were favorites of his. Dad loved his boys, grandchildren, and great
grandkids, taking great pride in them and their activities.
Dad will be missed by sons and daughters-in-law, Glen & Donne, Alan & Bonnie, and
Heidi. He will be remembered by his 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and
by his sister, Judy (Robert) Sporrong and by his sisters-in-law Zola (Dick) Signs and
Jan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 9533 Hickory Ave., Hesperia. The
internment will be at Sunset Hills, Apple Valley.
