

Funeral: 12:30 p.m., on Friday December 3, 2010 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive in Arlington, with interment at Moore Memorial Gardens.
She was born on September, 29, 1948 in Fort Worth, TX to Walter, Sr. and Mary Davies. Alice enjoyed her childhood years in Columbus, OH and Tulsa, OK. She attended Oklahoma State University for two years, graduating in 1970 from Southern Methodist University with a degree in political science.
After completing postgraduate studies for teacher certification, she taught social studies, mathematics and computer technology in the Dallas and Austin Independent School Districts. Upon retirement, she worked in the offices of Dr. Keith Busse and Dr. George Thorne. Her fervor for social justice inspired her participation in the Young Democrats of Texas, Mark White's gubernatorial campaigns, and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Many close friendships developed through her volunteer efforts in the Women's Symphony League and the Austin Woman's Club.
Alice was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister-in-law, Catherine Davies. She is survived by brother Dr. Walter M. Davies, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Tulsa, OK; sister, the Honorable Judge Mary Scott and her husband Dr. Don Scott of Seattle, WA; sister Elizabeth Ann Allred and her husband Dr. William Allred of Tulsa, OK; brother Dr. Roland Davies and his wife Dr. Jenefred Davies of Austin, TX; brother John Davies of Arlington, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Humane Society in honor of Alice's deep respect for the work of animal shelters. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seton Hospital's Intensive Care Unit and especially, Dr. George Thorne for his guidance and loyal spirit.
