Amanda O. Shew Heathcott, better known as Ma to family and loved ones, left this Earth on May 29, 2021 to find peace and angel wings. After a long and fruitful life, she passed gracefully at home surrounded by love and her devoted dog Chico.
Amanda was born on June 26, 1938 in Linden, Cass County Texas, later residing in Irving, Texas and raising her family in Arlington.
While raising a family, she worked for 25 years in Stores Accounting for Kroger and later at Kro-Dal Credit Union, retiring as president.
She later worked with the family church, New World United Methodist. When she wasn’t working, corralling grandchildren, or rolling her eyes at her husband’s jokes, she loved playing mahjong and cards with friends, and traveling the country.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Robert Lee Shew and Jewell Maxwell Reed, as well as her two sisters; Bobbie Jean Crawford and Jane Elizabeth Ford.
As the matriarch of her family, with nearly 83 years of love and friendship, she is survived by a great number of people who will keep her memory alive. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 53 years, Ronald “Ron” Heathcott, and their children Linda Day, Lisa Saunders, and Ronald Heathcott II (Tiffany).
She is also remembered by her grandchildren Matthew Day, Gregory Behm, Amanda Lowry, Adam Lowry, Erika Holley (Justin), Jade Fehr (Brian), Alexis Clifford, Meagan Heathcott, Chandler Heathcott (Sarai Z.), and Amanda J. Saunders (Cameron C.). Additionally, Amanda leaves behind six great-grandchildren Hayden, Logan, Marley, Mazzy, Ethan, and Sutton.
With her ever growing immediate family and her many nieces, nephews, and family-like friends; Amanda’s cup runneth over.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on June 5, 2021 at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the funeral service at Moore Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Amanda Heathcott to New World UMC Children’s Ministry.
