Barbara was born in Boise City, Okla., on April 29, 1927, the daughter of A.C. and Verbie Brown and sister to Joseph Franklin Brown, all of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Boise City High School and the University of Oklahoma with a degree in nursing. She married James Allen Holcomb Sr. on Feb. 14, 1956.
For 56 years, their marriage grew with love and commitment to one another and to their children, Joe, James Jr., Emily and Alane. Her family and friends will remember Barbara as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had a kind and compassionate heart that will permeate the generations of her family and friends.

She was active with the Salvation Army, Stephen Ministry, Yokefellows, Meals on Wheels, Realtor's Association, and Red Hat Society. Barbara was a member of The Pairs & Parents Sunday School Class at Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler.
