

Betty Lou Melton, age 87, of Arlington, Texas passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025. Members of the Melton family moved from eastern Oklahoma to join other members of the family who were living in Guymon, Oklahoma. Harrold, a senior in High School, met Betty Lou Coulter who was a Guymon student.
After High School relationship Harrold Melton and Betty Coulter were joined in marriage by a Baptist minister in a Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico. After the marriage their first home was in Amarillo, Texas where their first child, Debra, was born. Harrold was employed by Furr Foods Meat Market. He was soon promoted a short time later to manage the Furr Foods Meat Market, in Fort Worth, Texas where the second child, David was born. After a period in Fort Worth, Betty and Harrold decided to pursue more education.
Continuing that pursuit Betty earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Oklahoma. Continuing her education she received a Masters in Education at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. She then pursued a teaching career where she devoted 25 years teaching elementary students before retirement.
Survivors include her Husband, Harrold E. Melton; Daughter, Debra Risner and husband, Ken; Son, David Melton and wife, Olga; Three Grandchildren, Four Great-Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister, Donita Orr.
Betty is preceded in death by her Parents, James David Coulter and Hattie Lou Coulter; Sister, Marcille Christopher.
A Funeral Service to Celebrate the life of Betty Melton will be held on Saturday February 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive Arlington, TX 76012. Burial will follow the service at Moore Memorial Gardens.
