Betty Ruth Brumit Talbot of Midlothian, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waxahachie, Texas, at the age of 94.
Born on January 31, 1931, in Houston, Texas (Harris County), Betty was the daughter of William Grover Brumit and May Belle McCallum Brumit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene H. Talbot; her parents; her brother, Dewey Eugene Brumit; her son, William Edwin “Ed” Talbot; and her grandson, Michael.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sharon Holland and husband Steve; her son, Dr. Gene H. Talbot Jr. and wife Pamela; her daughter-in-law, Belinda Talbot; grandchildren: Chris McGlathery (Laycee), Steven Holland Jr. (Marissa), Lisa Groover (Robert), Patrick Talbot (Jessica), and Angela Underwood (Justin), Taylor, Chase, Hayden, Spencer, Gunner, Harley, Raylan and Lincoln great-grandchildren: Ashton, Drew (Jewelz), Alek, and Nicole; and great-great-grandson, Oaklynn. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A devoted follower of Jesus Christ since childhood, Betty lived her life with deep faith and service. She was a faithful member of Oak Crest Baptist Church in Midlothian, Texas, where she taught children, led the children's choir for 37 years, sang in the adult choir her entire life, and began playing the piano at the age of 8.
Betty was a proud member of the Pythian Sisters for over 75 years. She was also the owner and president of Dal-Worth Fabrication in Grand Prairie, Texas, since 1990, where she worked diligently and led with grace and determination.
Betty loved her family unconditionally, even through life’s most difficult seasons. Her legacy of love, faith, music, and perseverance will continue to impact generations.
Her son, Dr. Gene H. Talbot Jr., will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be men from the Knights of Pythias.
