There were 7 boys and 3 girls, a constant circus at the boarding house. In High School he became one of their best quarterbacks under the teachings of Paul Tyson and Harry Stietler. Go Waco High Tigers!
When World War II came along he signed up, but before finally shipping out for the South Pacific, he and Peggy Brien were married. A marriage that lasted for 68 years and two wonderful youngsters were the product of this union. Craig was the oldest (now deceased) but not long after he had a sister, Penny.
On his return home and out of the Navy he went to Baylor and earned his B.B.A., also lettering in varsity football. Loving sports, he eventually went to work for A.G. Spalding for over 25 years. When he was not on the road, he was fishing, playing golf and working in his yard. Bill was a member of the Arlington Bass Club and at one time was a “Top Tenner” of Texas in bass fishing. He loved his family, home and country.
When in the service and flying with the crew on a P.B.M Mariner by way of Eniwetok, Kwajalein, Iwo Jima, Saipan and other parts of the South Pacific, he could only think of the good “ole” U.S.A. He was our “Sunshine”.
