Bobbye, the youngest of 13 siblings, was born and raised in Hamilton, TX. She married Harold "Sonny" Jay Howell, also from Hamilton, on May 30, 1953. They moved their family to Arlington, TX in 1965, where she and Sonny lived for 60 years.
Bobbye worked tirelessly in service to the Lord. She was a faithful member of Lamar Baptist Church for 50 years. There she joyfully taught a ladies Sunday School class, served on many church committees, and volunteered with the children's ministry, where during VBS she helped lead children to the Lord. She faithfully organized and operated the clothes closet through the church in addition to other areas of service.
Bobbye was known for her sense of style and eye for fashion. She sold clothes and then opened her own clothing store, Howell Marsh in 1980. She always loved dressing others in beautiful clothes and following fashion trends. Through many shopping trips, she taught her daughters and granddaughters how to style clothes.
Bobbye was known by her family and friends to be a faithful student of God's word and a never ceasing prayer warrior. Her greatest joys were studying God's word, praying for her family, and serving the body of Christ. Bobbye also loved hosting family, friends, and bridge club in her home. She was a wonderful cook and always had something sweet waiting for her grandkids when they walked in the door. Of all the holidays, Christmas was her favorite. Her family would gather in her home with delicious food and thoughtful presents to celebrate the birth of Christ. Bobbye always found time to spend with her six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, playing games, shopping, and hosting tea parties, where "giggle tea" was always served.
Bobbye is survived by Sonny, her beloved husband of 72 years. She is also survived by her daughters. Tracy Elkins and husband Butch; Janay Pendley and husband Tim. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Andrea Hansen, son Keeton; Loren Coleman, husband Skyler and children Carson, Case, Cooper; Adam Fowler, wife Whitney and children Cole, Jake, Brady; Alyssa Randall, husband Evan, and children Gavin, Owen; Shae Phillips, husband Jon, and children Elsie Jaye, Thiess, Redding, Anderson; and Micalea Nixon, husband Michael, and children Stella Pendley, Maisie Jean.
Bobbye's giving heart to serve others was evident in all she did. She loved selflessly and unconditionally. When asked what was on her bucket list she said, "To serve Jesus until the end of my life," and she always prayed that God would help her do the right thing. Her family will miss her greatly, but rejoice in that she is healed in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Lamar Baptist Church in honor of Bobbye.
Services to Celebrate the life of Bobbye will be held on Thursday May 15, 2025 at Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Lamar Blvd, Arlington, TX 76012 at 1:00 PM.
