

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in Moore Memorial Gardens.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home.
He was born in Villa Grove, Ill., on Nov. 23, 1924. At the age of 17, Calvin enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He later received a degree in business from Butler University. In 1948, Calvin began working for Allstate Insurance Company. He married the love of his life, Juanita Joan Scott, on April 2, 1949. In 1952, Calvin enrolled at the Indiana University-Indianapolis night classes, and eventually earned his Bachelor of Laws degree while raising two young boys. He graduated No. 2 in his class, and was a member of the Order of the Coif for honors in the study of the law. He worked for Allstate for 36 years, traveling all over the country with his wife and three children, eventually retiring as the Southern Zone claim manager in 1984.
He had a passion for fishing, gardening, and had much love for children. Cal and Nita traveled extensively across the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Edward and Dora Belle Culver Scott; his brothers, Kelton, Wallace and Laredo Scott; and his sisters, Alberta Eversole, LaWanda Lake, Geneva Powell, Leone Lamb and Juanita Goddard.
Survivors: His wife of 67 years, Juanita Cermack Scott; children, Calvin, David and Lisa Scott; daughters-in-law, Patti and Jill Scott; his grandchildren, Blake, James, and Miranda and Matthew Leach; his great-grandchildren, Leah and Avery; and many nieces and nephews across the country.
