Charlie was born Nov. 27, 1933, in San Antonio. He was raised in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School, Class of 1951. After attending Texas Tech University, Charlie joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Charlie and Peggy, his wife of 46 years, raised their four children in the Dallas area. He was a loving husband, father and friend. In his retirement years, Charlie was an avid supporter of the local performing arts. He was especially proud of being the first volunteer at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington. His unique sense of humor and boisterous laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Father Joe and the RCIA group at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the last year of his spiritual journey. We would also like to thank Arlington Memorial Hospice for the extraordinary care and kindness to him and the family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, and his parents, C.W. and Katherine Ashworth.
Survivors: Daughters Susanne Ashworth and partner, Debbie Blair, and Cathy Lindemann and husband, Trey; sons, Chuck Ashworth and Paul Ashworth; brother, Jack W. Ashworth; sister, Mary Ashworth Phillips; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
