It's been a year and I still miss you brother! !

Colby made me feel very welcome the two times I stopped by with the semi.  We had a great time visiting.  Colby surely left an impression.

Colby,
   You were a lot of different things to a lot of different people. You marched to the beat of a different drummer. You did things your way. You traveled the path less traveled. All of these things are what made you, you.
  I remember sitting out in dad's shop smoking cigarettes that we weren't supposed to be smoking and talking about girls. I remember freezing our butts off running our trap line in the middle of winter before the school bus would come. I remember wrecking your car while taking Gloria to a class party and having to come home and tell you about it. I knew you were going to be mad, but you just looked out the window and said "don't worry about it, I wanted to take the bumper off anyway"
I remember exchanging letters with you while we were both serving in Vietnam. You wanted me to tell my commanding officer that you were already serving in Vietnam, and I wasn't supposed to be there. That was just you trying to protect your little brother. I remember lots of other things too, but those are things that should and will always be kept just between brothers!
  Yes Colby, you were a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but you were one more thing. You were my big brother and I want you to know that you were loved and will be missed.

Jean, You don't know me but I am a friend of Mike's. I have heard many stories about Colby and feel like I know him. I just wanted you to know that you are in my prayers. I know what loss feels like just losing my son but take comfort in all the memories you have of Colby and he will live forever in your heart.

Losing a loved one is never easy but remembering the good times will help.  Remember that Colby LOVE and WAS LOVED as a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend.
