

Daniel J. “Papa” Batlle was born September 22, 1934 in Santiago, Cuba to Juan Batlle Canas and Alicia Gomez Alvarez, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and three children in 1964 and settled in Arlington, Texas. Daniel spent many years managing stores for Kentucky Fried Chicken and then worked as an IRS auditor. Daniel and his wife, Mirta, enjoyed traveling and playing cards with their friends, traveling with their children and grandchildren, and especially loved attending their grandchildren’s activities. In his later years, Daniel truly loved watching his Texas Rangers and classic movies from the comfort of his favorite recliner. He will always be remembered and respected for doing what was best for his family, from moving them to the U.S. with only $20 in his pocket, to providing for them until the day he died.
Mr. Batlle was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years Mirta, in 2010 and by one daughter, Nivia in 2000.
Survivors include his sister Edith Menendez of Southlake; son Daniel Batlle and his wife Cathy of Arlington; son Carlos Batlle and his wife Sonja of Phoenix, Arizona; grandson Aaron Batlle and his wife Abby of Mansfield; grandson Logan Batlle and his wife Leeta of Grapevine; granddaughter Caitlin Batlle of Arlington; grandson Matthew Batlle and granddaughter Olivia Batlle of Phoenix, and great-granddaughter Saylor Batlle of Mansfield as well as many other friends who loved “Papa.”
