David Allen Farris

David Allen Farris, 90, peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025. SERVICES: 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 21 @ First Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas. 301 S. Center Street. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon on Friday prior to the 1:30 p.m. service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Texas Baptist Men or Mission Arlington.

The second of three boys, David was born in Marshall, TX on October 13, 1935, and raised in Karnack, TX. He was a 1953 graduate of Karnack High School where he was a proud member of the six-man football team. When asked about his high school years, he joked that he graduated in the top ten of his class … that being said, there were only 6 people in his senior class. He attended East Texas Baptist University and University of Houston, and was also in the National Guard for 6 years as an SP4.

David devoted his life to his family, always happiest when he was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. David was happily married to Martha Bess Harris for 52 years, and they raised four children together. He found love again and married JoAnn (Jodi) Marshall for the last 10 years of his life. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Arlington and enjoyed volunteering and using his CDL license to transport donations for Mission Arlington. In addition to his devotion to his family, his work ethic, and fun sense of humor left a profound mark on many organizations including Affiliated Food Stores, McKesson Drug Inc., and Saddle Creek. In fact, he attempted to retire 4 times…but was recruited back by his co-workers each time.

His legacy of being positive, finding the best in people, helping others, and making friends wherever he traveled are a few attributes that define his character. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys & Texas Rangers, driving on camping trips all over the U.S., fixing things around the house, and most of all…laughter with others. We lost one of our greatest advocates, a great husband & father, amazing grandfather/Pepaw, and loyal friend to everyone. With heavy hearts we let him go, but with joy knowing he is celebrating in Heaven with his family who most assuredly welcomed him with open arms. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Survivors: Wife, JoAnn (Jodi) Farris; son Dr. Douglas Farris (Shannon); daughters Darla Turner (Mike); Diana Farris; and Debbie Wilkes (Gary); grandchildren, Blake and Brandon Turner (Maddie); and Ashlyn and Ryan Wilkes. Brother-in-law Bill Harris (Kay); Michael Farris; Sarah Porter (Phil), Amos and Arlo; Michelle Vollmar (Joe), Jason Evans (Gabriela); Lori Wood Jones, Dakota Jones; Jamey Jones and daughter Royalty.

David was preceded in death by his parents Acie David and Mamie Ellen Farris; loving first wife, Martha Farris; brothers Norman Farris (Sue); Stanley Farris (Norma).
