Dave Hodgson, age 64, passed away on May 7, 2025 in Arlington, Texas. He was born on August 16, 1960 in El Paso, Texas to John and Nancy Hodgson. Dave was raised in Abilene and graduated from Cooper High School in 1978; he went on to The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) where he played collegiate football on the offensive line.
He was a beloved coach of soccer and football, an admired teacher and dedicated administrator at Texas Public Schools where he worked for more than 38 years. The majority of his career was at Mansfield ISD. He impacted so many students and teachers lives over his tenure within the many schools he taught.
In his spare time Dave enjoyed spending time with friends and reminiscing about the good 'ol days. He also liked golfing and collecting and trading baseball cards and trucks. He truly got great enjoyment supporting his favorite sports teams: Green Bay Packers, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks, including his fantasy football teams and kept up with that almost religiously. Dave was active in his church community that he felt blessed to have and spend time with. He was a very loving and caring father and absolutely cherished time spent with his son and daughter- in-law, though his biggest joy was his granddaughter, Quinn.
Dave's family and friends will always remember him as someone who cared deeply for others, was the life of the party, and mentored countless individuals.
Left to cherish Dave's memory are his parents, Nancy and John Hodgson; Son Jordan Hodgson and wife Emily; granddaughter, Quinn Hodgson
