Born on July 19, 1942, in Long Beach, California, Delores graduated from Jordan High School and soon after began building a life centered around family, home, and community. She was a successful sales manager for Home Interiors before turning her talents to real estate—a career she pursued with passion and distinction for 32 years in the Keller and greater Fort Worth areas.
In 1974, she married Hal Maxwell, whose career with American Airlines led them to Texas. Together, they embraced every opportunity to travel the world, enjoying the many adventures that came with airline life. Delores brought her impeccable taste and love for beautiful spaces into every home she touched, and her warmth and enthusiasm made her a trusted guide for many families finding their own homes.
Delores was also deeply committed to her community. She volunteered for the Cancer Society of Fort Worth, where she helped organize major fundraising events—most memorably one involving a basketball autographed by her hero, Michael Jordan. She kept bidding on it herself, reluctant to let it go, much to the amusement (and relief) of her husband Hal.
A proud member of the Grapevine Wine Pouring Society, Delores helped champion local Texas wineries and the city’s growing recognition in the wine industry.
Above all, Delores treasured her family. Known affectionately as "Cookie" by her siblings, she was the youngest of four. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Hal Maxwell (2009), her parents Cloyd Huston (Jack) Porter and Rena Ella Fox Porter, her sisters Barbara Hayes and Yvonne Hastings, her brother Ronald Porter, her stepson Sean Maxwell, and her son-in-law James Canterbury.
She is survived by her daughters Laura Johnson (Lane) and Lisa Canterbury; daughter-in-law Marie Maxwell; grandchildren Lacey Logsdon (Devin), Libby Johnson, Wynston Canterbury (Tara), Dalton Canterbury, Abby Maxwell, Amanda Maxwell, Jackson Maxwell, Carter Maxwell, Harrison Maxwell, Reagan Maxwell, and Grant Maxwell; and great-grandchildren Marcel Canterbury, Luna Logsdon, and Luke Logsdon.
