He was born on April 19, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to John and Marguerite Gassaway. Dennis graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso and proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant (SSGT E5) in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
In 1970, Dennis married Ilsa Marquez, and together they shared a wonderful life and raised their daughter, Janine.
Dennis was a man of many talents and passions. He loved woodworking and photography—especially capturing the beauty of birds—and he cherished every moment spent with his family. His warmth, humor, and laugh brightened every room he entered. He was known for always having a good story or joke to share and for bringing joy to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ilsa Gassaway, and his parents, John and Marguerite Gassaway.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Janine, and her family; his siblings, Daniel and Dwanna Gassaway; and their families. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
