Born on November 25, 1931, Dorothy May (Anderson) Rehonic almost made it to her 90th birthday. She passed away November 20, 2021, just 13 days after her early 90th surprise celebration. Dottie, as her friends called her, was born in Dallas to Dorothy Mae Bentley and John Walter Anderson. She and her 10 siblings shared a home a short distance outside downtown Dallas.
Dottie met her future husband, Edward Rehonic, at a Navy dance. They fell in love and were married October 3, 1953. Together they built a family that became their whole life and remained together until Ed's passing in 2017. It was 64 years of living and loving.
Her early 90th birthday party was a grand day filled with joy. She was surrounded by family and friends for her final luau. Her granddaughters, Rachel and Jenna, made sure she was able to wiggle her strawberry margarita pink painted toes in the sand one last time. Given a plumeria lei by her sister-in-law, Carolyn, Dottie was glowing. She revelled in all the love bestowed on her. That morning, she shared a "breakfast" of peach cobbler with her nephew from New Jersey, Daniel Dvorak.
Dottie was feisty, stubborn, loving and genuine. She would tell you the truth, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Her mission in life was to leave a legacy of love for her children and grandchildren, and she succeeded.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Jeff); sons, Vincent (Cindi) and Victor (Laura); beloved and adored grandchildren, Olivia, Rachel, Jenna, Calvin, and Beau; sister-in-law, Carolyn; brothers, Leroy and John; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Dottie had many lifelong friends and even some relatively new friends who she enjoyed spending time with. Our Dottie taught us that being part of this family means you will love and be loved the rest of your life. We will carry on her legacy of love.
