Edna was born in San Antonio, TX. and was the daughter of Robert Ingle and Soledad Ybarra. She met her husband, Robert Theo Snawder who was serving in the Army, literally outside the Alamo. They married on December 12, 1954 and raised five children between California and Texas.
After the early death of her husband, Robert in 1970, Edna continued with her education to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language (Spanish) from the University of Texas at Arlington, and began teaching in 1973. Edna was certified in Early Childhood, Elementary Self Contained, Elementary Spanish, Bilingual/ESL, Secondary English, and Secondary Spanish Bilingual and taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten until her retirement after 22 years of service with the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Edna was an educator at heart and her passion was children and teaching. She was an avid reader, storyteller, news watcher, and lifelong learner. She enjoyed the symphony and spending time with all her grandchildren; as they were a source of joy for her and she was so proud of them all. Edna made some wonderful friendships over the years, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Edna is survived by her daughter Pamela; her sons Thomas and Robert jr.; her grandchildren Ethan Turner, Jeremy Turner, Nicholas Snawder, Blake Snawder, Ella Snawder, James Snawder; Bobby Snawder, Benjamin Snawder, David Snawder, and her sisters Esther Benavides and Soledad Flores Worley. She is preceded in death by husband Robert T Snawder; sons Mark Snawder, William Snawder; and her parents.
