Everett Richard Atkins III

Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gateway Church, 2404 Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie.

Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Rick was born Nov. 2, 1955, in Fort Worth and began residence in Arlington. He resided with his father, Everett R. Atkins Sr., and mother, Marian Atkins. Everett Sr. was employed in the engineering department of Vought Aircraft Co. Ricky led an exciting life discovering bicycles, motor bikes and motorcycles, he played baseball and finally found his niche in auto racing. He entered SCCA with his custom-built Honda XR. After many mechanical problems, he went on to win his first race! Rick loved the races and being involved even as a spectator. In 2006 tragedy struck as he suffered from a stroke. After he recovered, he went on to participate in a pit crew as a mechanic. Rick was thrilled to become a member of Gateway Church where he found many new and old friends. Rick loved his daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, parents, sisters and family more than life itself.

Survivors: Mother, Marian Atkins; father, Everett "Dick" Atkins; daughter, Skye Hasan; son-in-law, Feroz Hasan; grandchildren, Scarlett, Izabella, Jet and Jax; sisters, Terry Craddock and Carol Wampler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
