Mother loved to paint, garden, golf, and socializing at Rolling Hills Country Club. She loved fine dining but hated to cook. The first time I took my future wife to meet the parents, the smoke alarm went off to let her know the ham was done, or actually very overdone. She looked to buy a house without a kitchen, but building codes kept that from happening.
Mother had quite the sense of humor. Thirty years ago she made us promise to put a phone in her casket when she passed " just in case. "I am so glad she made it to 86. It gave us many more years to enjoy her and her sense of humor. Besides, the mobile phone is so much easier than having those lines running through the cemetery,
For the past 40 years, mother has been Mere to our family and friends. This beloved Grandmother had always said that she would go by whatever name her first grandchild called her. Adam's attempt at "Come Here" became "Mere", and her name from that time forward.
Our mother and father opened Swofford Electric Supply in 1968 and it's success has lasted over 50 years. Mother loved her "Swofford" employees and friends and considered each and everyone as "family"and loved them as such.
Though we will miss her and her infectious laughter, her amazing zest for life and her unconditional love. We are comforted by the fact we now have a true Angel in Heaven watching over us.
