Gaylord D. Ross

Gaylord D. Ross of Arlington, Texas passed away, January 1st, 2017 at the age of 78. He was born on February 20, 1938 in Gorman, Texas to Cyril and Opal Ross. He married his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Aust, on June 13, 1959.

Gaylord, also known as "Popdad" to those who loved him, was an accomplished track star during his high school years. He served briefly in the United States Army before being struck with polio at the age of 19. He began his career with Texas Electric Service Company in 1956 and retired at the age of 54, after 36 years of service.

He served as Deacon for many years at Faith Tabernacle UPC of Arlington, Texas. During his life he was an accomplished musician playing many instruments for the simple joy of making music. He also used his talent to worship his Savior with one of his favorite instruments being the pedal steel guitar. The most amazing and important accomplishment in his life is the legacy of a Godly life well lived and his unconditional love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal Halbrooks Ross and Cyril Ross and his brother Stanley L. Ross.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are wife of 57 years, Barbara Ross, daughter, Twila Jenkins and her children Tiffany Jenkins (great grandson Corbin Gonzalez) and Jeremy Jenkins, and son Gaylon Ross and wife Glenda and their children Amanda and Preston Ross.

The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home 1219 N. Davis Dr., from 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 4,2017.

The memorial service will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his home church Faith Tabernacle, UPC 507 E. Randol Mill Rd. Arlington, Texas. Pastor Jonathan Harris and Bishop John Harris officiating.
