

GLENN EDWARD HAMMAN passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026 at the age of 98. Glenn was born in 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to Glenn and Naomi Hamman. He graduated in 1944 from Port Arthur High School where he played on the winning state championship football team against Highland Park High School and Doak Walker.
He served in the U.S. Army in 1946 as a member of the Occupational Troops in Japan. After his military duty he attended and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with an Aeronautical Engineering degree. He was a member of Theta Xi fraternity and received scholastic recognition from Chi Epsilon.
He married Bettye Lou Ludwig, also of Port Arthur and also a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. They moved to Dallas and he worked as an aeronautical engineer at Chance Vought Aircraft. He was sent by Vought (LTV) to work for Boeing in Seattle where he was an advisor for military aircraft hydraulic systems. After retiring from Vought, he spent the next seven years with Northrop Aircraft’s design team for the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber, a highly-classified government project in California.
After retirement, he joined the Arlington Senior Men’s Golf Association and hit his first hole-in-one at the age of 88.
He is survived by two children - son, Scott Hamman and wife, Jeri, and daughter, Becky Hanley and husband, Pete. He is also survived by grandchildren, Monica Tolstyka and husband, Bobby; Lauren Everett and husband, Adam; and Shannon Key and husband, Chris. Additionally, he was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Avery, Pierson, Lyla, Leighton and Audrey.
