James Eugene "Jimbo" Blake, 78, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026. A devoted husband, father, and Papaw, Jim will be remembered for his humor, determination, and selfless spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. Born on April 9, 1947, in Mankato, Minnesota (Predeceased : Father - Gordon E. Blake,Mother - Alma L. Blake, Brother - Patrick Blake, Sister - Katherine McCarroll, Survived by : Brother - David Blake (Tracy). Brother - Tim Blake (Susan), Brother - Mike Blake (Barbara), Sister - Karen Paul (Bob), Sister - Judy Blake), Jim grew up with a strong work ethic and an unwavering belief that there was always a way to get things done. Those traits carried him throughout his life and defined the man he became. For 33 years, he built a long and admirable career at Duncan Disposal, earning not only respect for his hard work, but also friendships that lasted a lifetime. There wasn't much he couldn't fix, whether it was a broken appliance, a project at home, or a problem that needed a steady hand and patient heart. On September 28th, 1973, Jim married the love of his life, Debbie K. Blake. Together they shared 52 wonderful years filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. He was a proud father to his daughter, Cortney L. McNitt (Justin L. McNitt), and an endlessly devoted Papaw to Landon and MaKenna, who were the light of his life. Nothing brought him more joy than attending their games and cheering them on. Even at the age of 78, Jim still thought he was capable of taking anyone on that might hurt any of his grandchildren. If you knew him well enough, "Jim Don't Dial 911". A man of quiet determination, Jim never wanted others to worry about him. When asked how he was, he'd simply say he was fine, insisting that everyone "carry on." His selflessness and strength left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Outside of work and family, Jim found joy in hunting & fishing-a passion that stayed with him for many years-and the occasional golf game with his buddies.
A Graveside "Celebration of Life" to celebrate Jim's life will be held in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington on Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. A truly remarkable man, Jim's spirit, humor, and love for family will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Psalms 57:1-2 "Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die."
