James (Jimmy) Carlton Caddel was born in Ft. Worth to Jesse Carlton and Delma Fay Anderson on March 6, 1937. He attended high school in Arlington and attended college courses at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland, Ohio. James spent 6 years serving his country in the Navy spending time in places such as Japan and Hawaii. When he returned home, he met his wife of almost 59 years, Phyllis Dollar, at the Dairy Queen across from Arlington High.
Jimmy had many jobs throughout the years, some of which included a used car salesman at Hooker-Vandergriff Cheverolet, Olin-Russell Flooring Company, and managed a Texaco Gasoline Distributorship delivering fuel to local farmers. Additionally, he worked the GM assembly line and was a postal carrier for USPS. James then worked with his father, Jesse, until his retirement when James took over the family business, Custom Welding.
An outdoorsman at heart, James' favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, and shooting and he always had great stories to tell. Following his passions and as an expert craftsman, he restored many trucks and jeeps. No matter the project, his devotion to perfection always shined through.
Above all, his commitment to family and friends was unprecedented. Whenever someone needed it, he was always there to lend a helping hand and selflessly give to those in need. James touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
