It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Gerald Bernard Ostand “Crazy Jerry” of Arlington, Texas. Crazy Jerry was diagnosed last summer with lung cancer and passed away April 26, 2017 at the age of 69 due to complications from surgery. This was very unexpected as he was making great strides in battling cancer.
Funeral: 2:00 pm Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Moore Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive family and friends as of 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
Please send flowers or plants to the funeral home or donate to your favorite charity in Crazy Jerry’s name.
Jerry was born on February 9, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to Saul and Lillian Ostand, who preceded him in death.
Jerry graduated from Mount Healthy High School in 1967. He was stationed in the Army from 1968 to 1971 in Fort Bliss, TX. That is where he met his beautiful bride Maria Elena Rivera. Jerry and Maria married on June 14, 1971 in El Paso, TX.
After they got married, they moved back to Cincinnati, OH where Jerry worked for a punch and die company and worked his way up to Regional Sales Manager. They then moved to Arlington, Texas in 1977 with their two children, Gary and Sunny, to cover his territory.
In December of 1980, Jerry and Maria started their own company H & O Die Supply, Inc. It all began in their home garage and with extreme dedication it became the leader in supplying to the metal fabrication and metal stamping industries.
Though he left us too soon, his legacy as a leader and icon in the die supply industry remains. Jerry left the company he so passionately built in the hands of his wife & children. They are committed to continuing Jerry’s vision and will maintain his legacy, philosophy, and directive.
Crazy Jerry and Maria had a fun and busy social life, whether it was rallying in their Mini Coopers with their Mini Peeps, playing cards and Mexican train with friends, going to grandchildren’s games, concerts and award ceremonies and extensive travel all over the world.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Maria Ostand; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jennifer Ostand; his daughter and son-in-law, Sunny and Art Anderson; five grandchildren, Grayson and Reece Ostand and Gage, Madelyn and Dean Anderson; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Caroline Ostand; niece, Traci Smith; and Uncle Allen Tenenholtz.
