

John was born on July 16, 1977, to Tinh Viet Bui and Duyen Thi Tran in Ft. Worth, Texas. John resided in Arlington, Texas until he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1998.
John is survived by his loving wife, Gina, their children, Payton, Brayden and Haven, his mom, Duyen Tran, his stepparents, Hien Bui and Lam To, his four siblings and their spouses, Tuan and wife Jan, Tuyet (Lysa) and her husband Viet, Thuy (Lucia) and her husband Ha, Thanh (Maria) and her husband Sean, nieces and nephews, and other family members.
In 1998, John met Hieu “Gina” Tran in Minnesota and was married on June 20, 2002 in Arlington, Texas. They were blessed with 3 beautiful children. The love that John and Gina had for each other was unconditional and admired by all who knew him.
John’s life revolved around his wife, children, family, and friends, who he viewed as family. His proudest moments were seeing his children grow up and all their accomplishments. The bond he shared with his family is indescribable and irreplaceable. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. John owned and operated 3 restaurants in Minnesota: iPho, iPho2 and I ❤ along with his brother Tuan and Thinh whom he viewed as his brother. John’s passions included cars, food, and games. John privately contributed to many charities and organizations. He was the first person to step up in crisis, the first to open his home to anyone that needed a place to stay, and the first to lend an ear if anyone needed to be heard. If you knew John, you could see his smile, hear his raspy voice and laughter, and remember and taste all the food he shared.
John loved hard and always carried himself with dignity, compassion, and respect. His legacy will continue to live on through everyone that knew and loved him.
