Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, Arlington. Interment: 2 p.m. Monday in Waco Memorial Park, Waco. Visitation: The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
John was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church and a member of the Herring Masonic Lodge in Waco. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. John later retired from Exxon as a salesman for 34 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosa Lee Russell; and his brother, James Russell.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Juanita Edwards Russell; sons, John V. Russell Jr. of Whitney and Charles Russell of Spring; daughter, Peggy Johnston of Arlington; sisters, Vineta Melton, and Treyonne and J.W. Cowan; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
