Joyce Bell Brock passed away peacefully at home in Arlington, Texas surrounded by her family on November 25, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born February 17, 1929 in Gomez, Texas to Franklin L Locke and Adeline “Addie” Kimmel Locke. She grew up in Gomez and Tokio, Texas, but Tokio was her hometown. She grew up with four brothers and one sister working on the family farm and attending school in Brownfield, Texas, where she was an avid basketball player on the Brownfield High School Cubs basketball team. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1947.
After graduating high school, she moved to Stephenville, Texas and shortly after moved to Fort Worth, Texas. While living in Fort Worth, she worked as a switchboard operator at Western Hill Hotel and Green Oaks Inn where she retired in 1994. In her retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and other extracurricular activities. She was also an active member of Cook Heights and West Freeway Church of Christ where she enjoyed worshiping with her friends and planning potluck suppers.
She is survived by her daughters, Donley St Andre (Paul) of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Fran Hartman (Kenneth) of Arlington, Texas and Terri Whiteside (Joe) of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Hodges, Stephanie Marston, Lauren Vines, April Stiborek, Aaron Hartman, Zane Whiteside and Adeline Whiteside; great grandchildren, Jordan Hodges, Cade Hodges, Noah Arredondo, Paisley Vines, Harriet Marston, Amos Marston and Hazel Cribbs; a host of nieces and nephews.
