

June Marie Hitt, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on June 8, 1939, June was a resident of Chandler, Texas, and was known for her kind-hearted and thoughtful nature.
June grew up in Humbolt, South Dakota, where she attended and graduated from Humbolt High School in 1957. She embarked on a successful banking career at First National Bank of Arlington, dedicating 28 years to the institution. Upon retiring, she pursued a new venture by starting a home daycare until she and her husband, Bob, retired to their home in Chandler, Texas, in 2000.
In her personal life, June married George Hallman in 1960, and they had one child before divorcing. She later married B.J. Hitt in 1976, creating a blended family of six with Bob's two sons and one daughter. June found joy in going to church, sewing, cooking, traveling, and volunteering. She especially loved riding on the motorcycle they affectionately named "thumper."
June was actively involved in her community, belonging to the Red Hats of Chandler and the United Methodist Women of Faith. She also volunteered at God's Open Hands, embodying her servant heart and trustworthy spirit. She will be remembered as a good friend, always present where she was needed.
June is preceded in death by her beloved husband, B.J. Hitt; her parents, Lyle and Edna Shumaker; her brothers, Leo, Donnie, Marvin, Billy; her sisters, Margie, Bonnie, Donna; her stepson, Ken Hitt; and her grandson, Joseph Colby Hitt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Kevin Hallman and husband Ian; stepson Joseph Hitt and wife Terry; stepdaughter Sandra Duncan and husband Donald; daughters-in-law, Lisa Hudson, Debbie Hallman, Helga Hitt; brothers, Norman Shumaker, Harvey Shumaker, Dale Shumaker, Walter Shumaker; sister, Marcia Narlin; grandchildren, Katie Hitt Beck, Melanie McCall, Madalyn Huynh, Dylan Duncan, Taylor Hallman; and great-grandchildren Relia Rios, Dalton Hitt, Connor McCall, Harrison Beck, Cooper McCall; sister-in-law, Jayne Wheeler; along with many other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lake Palestine United Methodist Church, located at 2889 FM 315, Chandler, Texas, on December 10, 2025, at 11:00 am, with a fellowship meal to follow. A Visitation will take place at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX, on December 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Graveside Service will follow at Parkdale Cemetery, 701 S Mary St, Arlington, TX, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
