1953-2025
Kathy Anne Moore, aged 71, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, after a short illness. She was born September 13, 1953, to Kathleen Moore (née Bean) and Harry McQueen Moore, of Hugh M. Moore & Sons Funeral Homes. Amazing as it seems today, though born in September, Kathy was Arlington's New Year's Baby of 1954, which shows how much the city has grown. Born and raised in Arlington, Kathy graduated from Arlington High School in 1971 and later attended TCU and UTA. She majored in History, which became a lifelong intellectual passion and made her a formidable Jeopardy! opponent. Kathy had a long career in finance and investment management. In her last position at Diesslin & Associates, in Fort Worth, she was a certified investment management analyst. Her innate knack for organization and attention to detail was valued in her profession, and manifested in many aspects of her life, from handling the business affairs of family to supervising elaborate Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Kathy had a very kind heart and was incredibly generous with her skills, her money, and her time. She contributed to many charities. She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, where she served as elder and trustee, taught Sunday school, was an usher, and served communion. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her sister Dr. Mary Shannon Moore of Fort Worth, TX, and extended family, including Dr. Vanessa Kathleen Opalo (Ken) of Arlington, VA, and Nairobi, Kenya, Sigoma and Sulwe Opalo, Thomas Watters of Brooklyn, NY, aunt Mozelle Mills of Dallas, TX, Robert Allen and family of Arlington, TX and cousins Kathy Pinckert, Bill Hancock, Connie Head, Georgeanne Kaut, Ron Mills, Hugh M. Menking, Joe Parker, Stan Parker, Jimmy Parker, Hugh M. Moore, Ginny Sprang, and William "Pete" Moore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Arlington.
