

Kim Allyn Bergstrand, 69, of Arlington, TX, loving husband to Jo Ann von der Heide Bergstrand and loving dad to Brock Jengis Bergstrand, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 at Arlington Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Kim was born on November 26, 1956 at Manchester Hospital in Manchester, Iowa to Nyle and Annabelle Carrothers Bergstrand.
Kim attended West Delaware High School (1975) and Indiana University (1979). Upon graduation Kim taught and coached football in Biggsville, Illinois. After moving to Texas, Kim changed careers and spent many years working at Cargill where he met lifelong friends. Kim returned to teaching and coaching and spent the remainder of his career at Grand Prairie High School teaching History and coaching Gopher Basketball and Softball.
After retirement, Kim remained active working as an Usher for the Texas Rangers and working Gopher Basketball and Softball games.
Kim was a friend to everyone he met and brought fun to every adventure he was a part of. He devoted his life to his family and was involved in the Butler Dad’s Club, Boy Scout Troop 380 and FUMCA youth activities joining the Testament Choir on many summer choir tours throughout the years. Kim loved his Hoosiers, puzzles, collecting sports memorabilia and history.
Kim will be missed by all but will remain in our hears forever. In addition to his wife Jo Ann and son Brock, Kim’s loving family includes brothers Kevin (Barb) Bergstrand and Kent Bergstrand, father-in-law Jack von der Heide, brother-in law Jack (Linda) von der Heide, nephews Benjamin and Bradley, nieces Brittany and Jaclyn, 12 great nephews and nieces and many treasured cousins and friends. Kim was preceded in death by his parents Nyle and Annabelle Carrothers Bergstrand and mother-in-law Ann Marie Vicidomino von der Heide.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Arlington (313 N Center, Arlington, TX 76011) on Saturday, February 7th at 1:00. We invite everyone to wear attire representing Indiana, Iowa or Texas Rangers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
