On November 15, 1958, Leon married the love of his life, Carol Ann Philpot. Their 63-year marriage was a testament to deep love, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion to their family.
Leon had a lifelong passion for automobiles and was especially fond of drag racing. He began racing as a young man and continued to participate in the sport throughout his life. He found great joy being around cars and loved sharing his passion with his kids and grandkids.
Above all, Leon will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man of quiet strength and deep character. He believed in hard work, kept his word, and lived with humility, never seeking recognition but always earning it.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Philpot of Grand Prairie, TX; his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lareasa Philpot of Fort Worth, TX; and his grandsons, Austin Philpot and Aaron Philpot, both of Fort Worth. He is also survived by his brother, John Philpot, and sister, Barbara Sellers, both of Oklahoma.
Leon leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, kindness, perseverance, and integrity. He was a man of his word, and someone you could always count on. He didn’t need a cape to be a hero; his actions spoke louder than words. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
